My Authoritarian Rabbi Ruined Judaism for Me
“I am the rabbi. You are the student. It is not your role to question me.”
It was clear to me in that moment that I wasn’t going to get my answer. Either I had accidentally exposed a blind spot in Rabbi Goldstein’s knowledge and he was embarrassed or he was an authoritarian asshole who hated having to adjust his lesson plan for his students. I chose to assume the latter.
Solutions are Easy; Wresting Control in Order to Implement Them Is Another Thing Altogether
I wonder how many genuine solutions to current problems get bogged down in meetings demanding a certain power-hungry consensus.

I have come to dislike and disagree with the phrase, “A writer writes.” Because some people who write are just typists.
Tribal Allegiance Didn't Save Anyone from COVID
I'm not into tribes these days. Tribalism did not save one person who contracted COVID and died from it. It won't save the next, either.

I Believe... [Dying Breath]
...that, if one spends more than a few minutes a day being anxious about money, a serious re-evaluation of what is and is not of value is in order. No one expends their final breath to brag about their credit score.
Sometimes You Just Gotta Buy a $6 Million House
BLM Co-Founder Patrisse Cullors says she's thriving. No shit.

I’d like to create a corporate event that is subtly “Severance” themed. Waffle parties, baby goats, violent art installations, Patricia Arquette’s teeth chewing scenery…
Eighty-Four and The Greatness of Happenstance
I go because I want to be somewhere doing something. I really like trying new things. But more importantly at this time, I’m lugubrious and lonely and I feel hollow all the time. My heart seems to have perpetually taken on the shape of a wrenched gut, and I live with a hoarder.
Welcome Back to Work Please Be Happy
Your boss will no longer have an “open door” policy so you no longer have to look at “that”.
[Excerpt] Harmless Experiment — A Terrible Serial Killer
“Mom, the good news is I’d make an awful serial killer,” I said, tears wetting my cheeks.
Masculinity is Not the Problem
Where are the lines between masculinity (nature's way), hyper-masculinity (the ego's way), and toxic masculinity (the villain's way)?
I Believe... [Supporting Dictators with Food Choice]
...that if you’re canceling Russian dressing but not Korean BBQ, Chinese egg rolls, or Middle Eastern Falafel, you’re a dietary dictatorship apologist.
[Excerpt] Carrie
After two hours, I got another text:
“omg this uber guy took me to an empty parking lot and said I had to blow him. I screamed and Sugar barked so he did drive me to the airport but I got here too late so missed the flight. Promise to make next one in two hours, kisses”
John, Dear - An Erotic Story
I am the small “top”, John. The little domme.
Slim ankles, tiny waist, size 6 shoe.
He is easily twice my size and reminds me of who you might resemble in a decade or two.

Roxanne Gay’s guest column in the New York Times about being thin skinned and not having to take a joke is the best April Fool’s joke I’ve ever seen.

American Jobs—Cleaning Up Bars on a Graveyard Shift
It felt like I was living two lives. Each day surrounded by hopeful, enthusiastic, and highly dramatic college students. Lots of chatter, lots of noise. Each night it was as if I had transported to a movie about the dystopian end of mankind.
Being an escort for me was like being a scrapbooker on Etsy for most other single moms trying to pick up some extra money. The only difference was that I could make a few thousand bucks for one hour of potential discomfort versus making a few hundred for several hours of suffering through handmade clip art. I’m a pretty open-minded person, but I cannot for one second believe that there is any joy in being hunched over a desk, cutting and pasting other people’s memories together. It seems so lonely and juvenile.
