...that the draw of reality television for myself is the voyeuristic perch to observe behaviors and values in play despite the narrative curation that these shows require. Since The Real World to Survivor, the viewing of humans in a bubble with nothing to do but deal with each other is absolutely fascinating.
...that curiosity is a muscle, and most people let it atrophy the moment they become convinced they're right.
...that the need for immediate gratification, for instant results, is an impediment to allowing things to unfold in a more patient and responsible manner. We all want what we want when we want it. The most meaningful things in life are the things you had to wait for.
...that weather, illness, death, and time periodically remind us that human beings are tenants of reality, not its landlords.
...that your priorities leave fingerprints everywhere—on your calendar, in your bank account, and among the things you've gathered along the way. Take a look in your refrigerator, your closet, your to-do list, your Netflix queue. That’s who you are.
