Notes from the Post-it Wall | Week of May 17, 2026
• Every ice cream sandwich, no matter the brand, size, or flavor, even immediately pulled from any freezer anywhere is half melted.
• It’s becoming more and more clear that we are nearing the end of Humanity’s second act. Act I was the Cave Man. Act II began with the ancient Egyptians. And it’s been a descent down the Slop Hill since. Not really looking forward to the conclusion in Act III.
• Seeing your son successfully choose a record, place it on the turntable, find the right groove for the song he wants to hear, then cueing it with a precise needle drop has been one of my greatest joys as a father. And when that record is Michael Jackson’s Bad and the song is “Smooth Criminal,” I know any parental hardship was worth it.
• The best kind of discomfort is being unbearably hot on a Chicago spring afternoon because you got dressed for the chilly spring morning.
• The greatest life hack of all is knowing which person to not call when you need to talk something out.
• Mastering disappointment is more productive than villainizing it.
