Notes from the Post-it Wall | Week of January 22, 2023

By David Himmel

• Since police are going to keep brutally and unnecessarily killing black men, it’s refreshing to see it done by black cops, too. It reveals more of the truth that American policing itself is the problem, not just your standard white cops hate black people cliche.

• My favorite kind of person is the liberal white person who champions all the right progressive causes of equal opportunity, anti-racist policies, etc., but hasn’t spoken to a person of color on a personal level in years. I mean, talk about your humanist!

• The pendulum swings. So does the noose. So does your wife—she just hasn’t told you yet.

• Swallowing, snorting, shooting, and smoking drugs, drinking, destroying property, and murdering small woodland creatures are not good ways to manage stress. But they sure do feel good.

• One trick to keeping life interesting, exciting, and surprising is to do the laundry of a preschooler. Play the game of How Much Poop Made it to the Toilet Paper vs. How Much Poop Made it to the Underpants.

• Drink more water. Chew more gum. Eat less cereal. Go to bed earlier. Work out harder. All this will lead to having more patience.
