Notes from the Post-it Wall | Week of October 9, 2022

By David Himmel

• If She-Hulk: Attorney at Law is meant to be a show about Jennifer not fighting, they should have shown her fighting not to fight. Instead, she only talks about it. Everything in her tiny, low stakes world—which is fine—is conveniently solved by her not fighting for anything. She has to make no effort to overcome her obstacles. But she sure does tell us about it. And that’s why it’s bad TV… It’s a lot of tell-don’t-show in this series.

• If all the cool stuff the Webb Telescope is finding doesn’t fill you with excitement, wonder, and existential terror, you have the brain capacity of a goldfish.

• Do I support Ukraine? Yes. But I’m too busy being existentially terrified in wonder of what the Webb Telescope is sending back to Earth.

• Another week, another legal problem for Trump that won’t stop his madness.

• It’s not surprising that no one from Marjorie Taylor Greene’s high school has come forward to say, “You know, she was really cool and mellow, and smart back then.” That’s because we are who we’ve always been.

• Privileged white women making a living as life coaches in wide brim hats may go down as the greatest grifting of our time.
