Notes from the Post-it Wall | Week of May 3, 2026

by David Himmel

• If I am ever invited to the Met Gala, I’m wearing cut off jean shorts and an old Co-ed Naked t-shirt with the sleeves cut off. Isn’t that the point? To look as absurd as humanly possible.

• I’m always alarmed when I hear a British royal speak. I’m just so used to not hearing them talk and then, oh! King Charles has vocal cords. And uses them! And he sounds just like a king—from a cartoon.

• At some point, we’re going to run out of money giving money to organizations and people who have run out of money.

• I don’t understand the Long Suffering Husband. That could be a consideration of why I’m divorced, but I think it was mostly a comparability thing. And anyway, I’m not suffering. If your wife is beating you down, you need to say something. Take an appropriate, reasonable stand for your sense of self. Same goes for Long Suffering Wives.

• It’s easy to misconstrue something you hear or read. Do better by doing the harder work. Pay attention, take your time. And trust that the hard work really isn’t that hard.

• Sometimes, it’s okay for your kids to feel bad. It’s how they learn the tough lessons. It’s how they become well-behaved adults, which is the whole point.
