I Believe… [Good Shoes]

...that the window of time between Christmas and the first day of work following the new year is a reset button that gives us a glimpse of what absolute freedom from responsibilities feels like. Unless you have kids or work for a place that requires holiday hours. Then forget I said anything.

...that a haircut, a good book, and a pair of shoes that really fit are the luxuries of the lower middle class.

...that, as Leo wonders, movie theaters will become like jazz bars if the quality of films continues to make watching them on digital screens a better option.

...that turning off your devices—off, completely fucking off—hands back a small slice of the freedom had before they came and took over.

...that finishing a book and sending off for a proof copy is a phenomenal way to start out the year.
