• Humans have been parenting for most of our species’ history. Only recently did it become panicked, exhaustive toil. Our grandfathers never bitched about parenting. Probably because they didn’t do much of it. That’s what women were for. But our grandmothers didn’t bitch about it either. Probably because they were sedated with martinis and Quaaludes. It’s busy. It’s an emotional drain. But it’s nothing new. Parenthood is a mental illness. And how do we treat illnesses? With drugs. So, get your hands on some Quaaludes and quit your bitching. You may not remember your kids’ childhoods, but so what. IT’S NOT ABOUT YOU, MOM AND DAD!
