Loose Chicks Featured Chick: Sharon Ammen

Sharon Ammen has a long and checkered past as a professional performer and academic.

Sharon holds a PhD in theatre history from the University of Maryland and an acting diploma from the Drama Studio of London.

Among her many professional roles are Maria in Twelfth Night and Emilia in Othello at the Colorado Shakespeare Festival, Ruth in Pirates of Penzance at Harlequin theatre in Washington DC, and multiple roles in Much Ado About Nothing at Crossroads Repertory Theatre.

Sharon retired in 2013, after seventeen years at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College in Indiana where she was Professor of theatre history and directing. At SMWC, she received more than a dozen Arts grants for work on her adaptations of literature into theatre and use of innovative techniques in musical productions and Shakespeare and was subsequently awarded Professor Emerita status.
