Notes from the Post-it Wall | Week of March 3, 2024

By David Himmel

• I want my lunch like I want my women: Tasty, not too hefty, and won't give me diarrhea.

• People can be kind to you but not understand you. Don’t fall in love with that. Kindness is extremely important, and really, quite easy. Understanding another human being is the hard part. Don’t be tricked by the easy, be committed to the tough. It’s worth it.

• Kids say the darndest things. Adults say the dumbest.

• MC Hammer came up in conversation the other day. And it got me thinking… Please Hammer Don't Hurt 'Em was such a strange album title when its artwork is a guy in glasses and a suit with a pocket square. Never once was I concerned he was going to hurt me. Or anyone. Man, I love(d) that album.

• I keep too much inside. My breaking points become cancerous self-loathing. I guess I could go home and take it out on my kids.

• The universe does not care about our druthers. And most people don’t either. So, quit being a brat and join the reasonable and kind ones in the middle.
