Sad Good Guys Wear Black

By David Himmel

Even when we don’t care how we look
It’s still a choice.
We dress to promote our internal ideals to the outside world
As if anyone cares.
But it does. Because that’s the first thing we judge.

Judging is fair and impartial.
It shouldn’t be bad.
It’s only negative when we judge beforehand.

A summer dress for a day drinking in the sun.
A sleeveless t-shirt to show off your guns.
A hoodie to hide your head from the cold and your face from the normies
beating the same pavement.
Muted colors and Wayfarer sunglasses to present your tasteful touch.
Black jeans and Chucks at the show to fit in with the punks.

Black on black on black with a touch of gray
To communicate you’re just not in the goddamn mood today.
To announce a state of mourning.
To send a silent warning.

Maybe I’m healing.
Maybe I’m colorblind.
Wearing all black just makes it easy.
