Joining Don & Donnie is Co-Editor of Literate Ape and cinephile, David Himmel and we discuss the best decade for film as well as the greatest mishmash compilation of awesomeness in all of the eighties Big Trouble in Little China.

The boys introduce a new feature and talk some industry scuttlebutt, then launch into a deep dive into Joel Schumacher’s 1993 film Falling Down.

The white dudes with attitudes disagree on the impact of TÁR then dive right into a favorite space comedy for both—Galaxy Quest. The discussion proves that this film is universally appealing to Trek fans (Don) and non-Trek fans (Donnie) alike. Finally Don surprises Donnie with his Trailer Geek choice this week.

The boys jump into the musicalization of divinity with 1973’s Jesus Christ Superstar, which according to Hall was written by Salman Rushdie. Don’t ask.

What do you get when you get two musical theater geeks geeking out on Tim Burton’s filmed version of arguably the greatest musical written by Sondheim? Some serious musical theater overload!

Closing out the year in films, D&D talk New Year’s Eve movies and find that the holiday is pretty bleak with serial killers, cuckolds killing themselves, and cruise ships capsizing. Happy Effing 2023!

As D&D approach the end of 2022, they have a showdown: if aliens came down and wanted to see one movie in order to understand the concept of Christmas, which would it be? Don chooses 1984’s BBC version of A Christmas Carol (which Donnie uniformly humbugs). Donnie chooses the Bing Crosby/Danny Kaye musical White Christmas.

The I Like to Watch Podcast is now one year old and our first anniversary, Don and Donnie go through the fifty+ trailers we were looking forward to during 2022. We were right about some and really wrong about others. Strap in, Professor!

Don has a fond attachment to Thanksgiving; Donnie does not. The two cover their favorite (or otherwise) Thanksgiving foods and movies about or taking place on the holiday in between Halloween and Christmas. Just wait until we do Arbor Day movies!
