Notes from the Post-it Wall | Week of March 17, 2024

By David Himmel

• When you’re feeling low, unplug from your daily challenges by watching quality films or television. I recommend Chernobyl or Schindler’s List.

• Hope is idiotic. Joy is possible.

• The thing about sucking the life out of someone is that it is often the result of your life being sucked from you. Just an ouroboros of suck. And that’s the saddest version of a fair and balanced relationship.

• I cannot enjoy much of anything for too long. That’s why I’m so quick in the sack.

• Driving through farmland on a cold, gray day in the early spring is like taking a two-ounce shot of depression. Or—or—it’s like taking a two-ounce shot of hope as the crops and tree’s buds fight to push through the frozen ground and frozen branches. Perseverance and perspective makes all the difference.

• I’m not dating to find love as much as I am dating to get more people interested in my books.
