Notes from the Post-it Wall | Week of February 21, 2021

By David Himmel

• I used to find active inspiration inside my boredom. So, my boredom was always short lived. I’ve reached the stage of the pandemic, or my life, where boredom begets more boredom. And it’s all so fucking boring.

• I worry that if I don’t overcome this boredom, I’ll find myself attending gender reveal parties without a hint of irony or cynicism. Boredom leads to lazy thinking. Lazy thinking leads to gender reveal parties.

• I get really happy when religious leaders do the right thing. A sign of this is often when the flock gets really upset at their leader.

• Here’s a not so new revelation that will change no one’s behavior at all: Twitter is humanity’s toilet. It is occupied mostly by Earth’s most insufferable acting out in insufferable ways because each person behind the account knows how insufferable they are.

• Escaping and running away are two very different things.

• My priorities are out of whack. I’m more excited about getting a new tattoo than I am about getting the vaccine. I blame this on the prison of boredom I’m keeping myself in.
