I Believe… [Crisis Management]

By Don Hall

…that how you behave in a crisis will determine how well you do once it’s passed.

…that when hundreds of thousands of people are being laid off and even more gig economy types are seeing their incomes disappear like flash paper to a flame, bitching about your job right now is among the shittiest, most self-involved thing one can do. Which means Americans will absolutely do it.

…that Twitter is basically every overly anxious, chatty, nose-in-your-business party guest that you feign diarrhea when you see them in a CVS all with the ability to nag one another in a studio apartment during a blizzard.

…that insisting on calling it “the Chinese Virus” is exactly what Trump does—use our kneejerk outrage gag reflex to divert our attention from the very real issues at hand. We are the fiddle and he plays us well.

…that the American healthcare system is a national version of the Fyre Festival—incredibly expensive with the promise of the best only to be exposed as a huge fraud with an extraordinary marketing campaign.
