I Believe... [Baby Boomers With a Christian Bale Growl]

By Don Hall

…that nothing is more true about the Baby Boomer generation than the truth about The Dark Knight: “You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain.” Remember that Batman was always the hero.

…that it's true that shame works but if you use it as a means to control people, own the consequences of it. Shame is the antithesis to education.

…that in a future world where women or LGTBQ or black people run things, we’ll all be gobsmacked at the exact same lust for power, squabbling, corruption, and lying that currently goes on because, you know, people.

…that relying on ethnic heritage in a multiplicity of ethnic heritages quickly becomes an excuse for failing to step up, an avoidance of personal accountability, and an identification with a reductive monolithic group you only wear like a bowling shirt.

…that you did not get those tattoos because of your appreciation of art so stop pissing and moaning when people you are interested in notice them. Advertising your body and then complaining that people noticed is just an asshole move.
