I Believe… [Spring of Deception]

...that the fake Spring (always around the end of February or beginning of March) in Chicago is something special. All of sudden people are out in shirt sleeves and walking the lakefront. A week later, it’ll be like a dream we all had but a really good one.

...that in order to get what you want out of any negotiation, one needs to appropriately read the room and adjust to fit the moment. If what you want is noteriety, double down on individual ego. If you want something different, your personal autonomy must take a back seat.

...that franchises make us feel safer and more familiar with what may or may not be in front of us which can be a salve in times of turmoil. They are also a stranglehold on creativity and the embrace of innovation.

...that the problem with slogans like “Believe All Women” is that soon enough, you find that some women are just like some men—toxic, lying pieces of shit. The aggression is just less direct.

...that one sign your staff is having a fun experience at work is when a bunch of them simply forget to clock out at the end of a shift.
