Notes from the Post-it Wall | Week of January 19, 2020

By David Himmel

• One sip of Coca-Cola is enough to remind me why I don’t drink Coca-Cola. Unless there’s bourbon in that Coca-Cola.

• I hate how much old white people love the song “Uptown Funk.”

• There are three ways to do something. The right way, the wrong way, and the way you do it that gets results, doesn’t hurt anyone or put anyone at risk but still, others disagree with. The last way is the best way. Don’t let others tell you how to do something that doesn’t affect them at all.

• There are too many for whom “I’m sorry” and real remorse is not an acceptable apology. For those, only self-immolation in public will quench their thirst for righteousness.

• Engaging in real conversations with someone across the aisle from you gives you insight into their reasoning. That insight allows you to create a thoughtful strategy to overcome their obstacles and achieve your goal. Defeat can only come with understanding your opponent.

• The best way to break a bad mood is to offer to help someone.
