I Believe… ["Abolish ICE" at the Statue of Liberty is How We Should Be Resisting]

…that, far more effective than protesting racial inequality, if you want to promote more equitable power in black lives, go spend your money in black-owned businesses. In a capitalist paradigm, it is economic strength that gets you to the table.

…that the phrase "So, what you're saying is..." is almost always followed by an inaccurate and skewed version of what was said in order to paint the speaker into a corner where you'd like them.

…that Scott Pruitt resigned for the same reason that, ultimately, most of the Trump administration will resign: rampant corruption sniffed out and investigated. It was not, however, due to the lady in the restaurant, so calm down.

…that the protest of Therese Patricia Okoumou on the foot of the Statue of Liberty is an example of a strategic protest. The perfect symbolism, the perfect message, and it didn't require thousands of people staycationing for a couple of hours with clever signs.

…that Hannah Gadsby's "Nanette" isn't a stand up special; it is a walk through a victim's story from someone who refuses to remain victimized (with some jokes.) Funny as hell, smart, inspirational and honest. Great storytelling.
