I Believe...

...that resistance in the Age of Trump's America is best summed up by Bartleby the Scrivener.  "I would prefer not to."

...that the fact that the state of Mississippi didn't ratify the 13th Amendment to the Constitution until 1995 says more about race relations in this country than any headline.

...that if you have an iPad or iPad Pro it is definitely worth your time investing in some sort of screen cleaner and avoiding your device while eating chicken wings.

...that the best compliment I've received in a while came the other night.  "You're useful."  I thought at first she said "youthful" but I like "useful" so much freaking more.  Youthful is easy; useful requires effort.

...that with the pliant national morality that has allowed

- Congressman Louie Gohmert, Senator Ted Cruz and Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin
- the oil companies the ability to control the narrative of climate change because we need our cars
- Walmart to ascend because we love cheap stuff so we casually ignore where it comes from and the union-busting methods the company employs to screw its labor
- the ease and widespread theft of digital music and film because we want what we want NOW and FREE
- the worship of fame over any substantive achievement

Donald Trump is the president we deserve.  I'd like to think that we can deserve better but that's really up to us, isn't it?  We can use his example of how to come together or we can choose another path.
