I Believe...

...that I wish - I mean, fundamentally, to my fucking core WISH - I could find any sense of graciousness or adult reasonability to display following last night's election.  I'm not sure I can.  I will say that we survived Dick Cheney who was actively evil.  Certainly not everyone survived but enough of us did to elect Obama.  Oh, Fuck me...

...that the only true bias the media at large has is not partisan but capitalism.  The media has made a freaking bundle proliferating this complete horseshit of a campaign for almost a year.  The bottom drops out soon...

...that there are lots of ways we can actively inspire dialogue that focuses on improving society and fomenting kindness but that public shaming is not one of them.  It exists for exactly the same reasons today as it always has - vengeance and destruction reaped upon those we disagree with and need to control.

...that the positive effect (for me at least) of the rash of angry, zealous people with such narrow views of the world who engage in The Online Justice Mob is that it definitely lets me know who to avoid in almost all walks of life.

...that perhaps this election will motivate a majority of the population to spend a bit more time learning about civics and governance and both the process and the people who run for office and become better, more responsible...who am I kidding?  We're already back to arguing about iPhones, Reality TV and Sports while posing for Selfies and screaming at each other over perceived insults.
