Raise A Glass
By Peter Kremidas
What to want and to fight for,
is only true when decided.
And decisions mean weighing the truth.
So raise your glass for great mothers.
For the most precious of pieces,
our live’s little nuggets of gold.
And a toast to the bullshit,
in my brain’s fertile soil.
And cold rain causing Cynic to grow.
Three cheers for good futures.
For small kindness. And pain.
For frustration, and all the conversations you wish you had.
Hats off for depression,
For lying, oppression,
For bad beer, loneliness, and the all the dreams you know will never come true.
Drink your cup for great fathers,
For laughing with friends. And for honesty.
To a full sunset to sunrise worth of memories, all of which are you drowning in joy.
Because it's all part of life, so remember it well;
if a tree’s branches reach heaven,
its roots gotta reach hell.
