I Believe... [I Heard a Rumor...]

...that Aronofsky's mother! is frustrating, haunting, violent, broadly allegorical and perhaps the best film made this year.

...that the greatest, most destructive game in the world (as perfected by the Trump and the Rove before him) is to imply and suggest someone is guilty of, well, anything, and then proliferate it as if there are lingering questions.  Like "What is the truth behind the Louis C.K. sexual harassment rumors?" or "I don't know if it's true but I heard that David Himmel beats his pregnant wife with his huge horsecock!" or "I think I saw Don Hall stealing churros from a snotty kid in Pilsen!"

...that this idea equating speech with violence is more than just fucking annoying. It’s ammunition for the right to shut down legitimate protest. It’s self-defeating for people on the left to take this stance.

...that I am proud of many things about who I am in the world and, while I’m not ashamed of being a white, heterosexual, cisgender male, none of those things are things I’m necessarily proud of. Simply put, being proud of things of which I have no choice seems silly.

...that if your allegiance is to a symbol rather than people, to a song rather than citizens, you might be a racist or you might not be a racist but you are definitely a jackass.
